United Stationers

TotalWorks Understands Your Needs

The nation's largest wholesaler of office equipment and supplies was challenged with the need to create cost-effective, on-demand, customized catalogs and flyers for individual local dealers. TotalWorks was there to help develop a solution.

United Stationers and their affiliates required a catalog creation system that would be quick-to-publish, yet offer the customization capabilities individual dealers desired.

To meet their need, TotalWorks created a system that allows users to produce marketing materials that have the advantage of customized, localized content, while retaining consistency and accuracy of product information.

Through a user-friendly web interface, clients have access to the content and templates required to build and preview customized catalogs. The end result: tailored materials that promote specific marketing plans.

The catalog system had a notable impact. Dealers report significant sales increases
as a result of targeted local promotion efforts, plus a 60% reduction in time-to-publish. Additionally, merchandisers at United Stationers can better support their dealer base by tracking usage of the system and gaining direct feedback from individual dealers.

Barjan

TotalWorks Builds Solutions
Barjan, a leading wholesaler to the truck stop, car wash, travel center and convenience store industries, was ready to produce a new catalog. With the advent of a new website on the horizon, the company knew they would need a system that could ultimately be utilized across multiple web and print channels. Thus, they had specific goals to reach: to maintain consistent product presentations and to reduce catalog production time.

TotalWorks developed a content management system that allowed Barjan to meet these goals.

The system includes a new marketing database that allows users to organize, create and maintain product copy and information via a web-based user interface. This content can
be easily extracted for both print and web materials.

In addition, data is connected to ERP for pricing and to image libraries for digital photos. Used together as the content management system, this solution offers content that is reusable and consistent across multiple channels.

Data came together. Publications were released. Goals were met. Since the implementation of the system, catalog price and copy variances between channels have been virtually eliminated and production time has been reduced by nearly 75%.

Office Max

TotalWorks Solves Problems

As one of the nation's largest office supplies and equipment dealers, OfficeMax must support a variety of national accounts. In this they faced the production problem of navigating multiple content management systems. OfficeMax desired a solution that could utilize the various systems to create customized catalogs at a cost-effective and timely rate.

TotalWorks developed a system that led to increased profitability, reduced cycle times and improved catalog customization capabilities.

Through the development of an extraction program, TotalWorks solved the problem of navigation inherent in the use of multiple content management systems.

The program enables users to download, translate, and reformat data from multiple systems so that individuals can easily and efficiently customize materials to meet their specific marketing plans.

Since the system has been implemented, the capacity to support national accounts has improved dramatically and catalog production time has been cut in half.
